Why do I do this to myself?
I woke up today with a clean bright sheet. It hung on the line, undisturbed, only moving with the light wind. Utterly pristine.
And I drug my knife through it. It’s been ripped from the line, clothespins flying. Drug through the brush, dirty and now stained.
And I try to wipe clean my cuts with it. But it’s not clean anymore. Infection ensues.
And when I lay back down to sleep,...
